Launceston Airport is located on the outskirts of the city of Launceston, Tasmania, just 15km from the city centre. Six airlines service Launceston Airport, with destinations including Melbourne, Flinders Island, Hobart, Brisbane and Sydney.

Launceston Airport offers a range of facilities for visitors to enjoy. In July 2008, three retail outlets opened at the airport – two cafes and one newsagent. As the airport is a regional one, the number of shops available is limited. For travellers with luggage, baggage trolleys are available for a small charge.

It is possible to reach Launceston’s city centre from the airport by taxi, bus or self-driving. Taxi Combined Launceston offers service from the airport to the city centre for approximately $30 to $35 per one-way trip, and a single fare on the ‘Airporter’ shuttle bus costs $14. Alternatively, if you hold a valid drivers’ license, you may rent a car for a fee (age restrictions may apply) or bring your own. Parking at Launceston Airport varies depending on your length of stay – your first day spent in the long-term car park will cost $14, whilst your fifteenth day will cost only $4. Short-term parking rates may be more expensive.

Launceston Airport check-in times vary depending on the airline. Passengers should check with their carrier for up-to-date check-in times, as missing these deadlines may cause passengers to miss their flight. If an online boarding pass was printed, your boarding pass should have information about check-in or ‘bag drop’ times. If not, consult the carrier’s web site.
